Indications:

By blocking the action of these nerves, atenolol reduces the heart rate and is useful in treating abnormally rapid heart rhythms. Atenolol also reduces the force of heart muscle contraction, lowers blood pressure, and is helpful in treating angina. It is also used for the prevention of migraine headaches and the treatment of certain types of tremors.

How to take:

Take atenolol as directed by the physician. Do not take the medication in large amounts for long periods unless recommended by the doctor. This drug should be taken with a full glass of water before or after a meal at the same time every day. It is not advisable to skip doses or stop without doctor?s order as it may worsen the condition. Blood pressure needs to be checked on a regular basis to be sure the drug is effective. For more detailed information please see label and please consult specialist. Do not take more Atenolol than it is indicated at the label without consulting your doctor.

Precautions:

This is a beta blocker that lowers blood pressure and heart rate, as well as control angina and may decrease mortality from recurrent Myocardial infarction. With angina, do not stop medication abruptly. Also report any changes in mood or affect especially severe depression.
