Indications:

Celexa is approved to treat major depression and can be used in treating various anxiety conditions.

How to take:

The recommended starting daily dose is 20 mg. It is gradually increased to a target dose of 40 mg/day. The dose increases should not exceed 20 mg/day per week. Take Celexa at the same time each day. If you miss a dose try to take it as soon as you remember.

Precautions:

never use Celexa if you are using (or have been using in the past 14 days) an MAO inhibitors such as isocarboxazid, tranylcypromine, phenelzine, rasagiline, or selegiline.Taking these drugs together may cause fatal reactions. Wait at least 14 days after you stop taking one of these medicines before taking another one. Consult with your healthcare provider if you are allergic to any components of this drug or if you have a history of kidney diseases, seizures or epilepsy, manic depression or history of drug abuse. Please remember that like other antidepressants Celexa may increase suicidal thinking and behavior in patients under age 24.
