Indications:

Neurontin affects chemicals and nerves in the body that are involved in the cause of seizures and particular types of pain. It was originally developed to treat epilepsy. Currently Neurontin is widely used to relieve neuropathic pain, including nerve pain caused by herpes virus or shingles, as well as major depressive disorder. Neurontin is also used for treating alcohol, methamphetamine and cocaine addiction.

How to use:

Take exactly as prescribed. Do not take Neurontin medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Neurontin can be taken with or without food. The starting dose is 300 mg three times a day, but your doctor may adjust the dosage as needed.

Precautions:

never use Neurontin if you are allergic to gabapentin. Before taking this medicine inform your doctor if you have a history of kidney, liver, or heart disease. Contact your doctor immediately if you have one of these symptoms: mood or behavior changes, depression, anxiety, or suicide thoughts. Don’t stop taking Neurontin abruptly to avoid withdrawal syndrome. Instead quit taking this medicine gradually over a period of weeks or months.
