Piroxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is effective in treating fever, pain, and inflammation in the body, How piroxicam works is not known however it may block substances in the body that are inflamed, NSAID`s treat the symptoms of pain and inflammation but do not treat the disease itself.

Indications:

Piroxicam is used in treating mild to moderate pain and for symptomatic treatment of rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by the physician.

How to take:

Piroxicam is used as directed by the doctor. Before use, check the label on the medicine for exact drug dose. This drug is taken by mouth and taken with food to avoid gastric upset. Precautions:

Piroxicam may cause gastrointestinal bleeding. Report immediately to the physician if symptoms of GI bleeding start to appear with severe abdominal pain. It is also best to avoid alcoholic beverages while on piroxicam as it may increase risk of GI bleeding. Do not engage in activities that require mental alertness until response of the drug is known. Use Piroxicam with caution on elderly, children and pregnant women. If symptoms persist or become worst, consult with your doctor.
